UK Part 1 Yacht Registration
Brexit update!
There seems to be a lot of confusion about the UK Part 1 registration in relation to the Brexit.
- Can I still use a UK Part 1 registration after Brexit?
- Are there now limitations for the UK Part 1 registration in relation to Brexit when sailing in the EU with it?
- Do I have to leave the EU every 18 months if my boat has a UK Part 1 registration?
The answers are simple:
- YES, you can use the UK part 1 registration in any country of the European Union without any problem after Brexit.
- NO, for pleasure yachts with a UK Part 1 registration there are NO limitations in the European Union after Brexit. It is valid in any country of the world. You do NOT have to leave the EU after a period of time.
- NO, the 18 month rule ONLY applies in relation to VAT. If the VAT has NOT been paid for a yacht you can avoid VAT payment by leaving the EU for one day and come back later. The 18 month rule has NOTHING to do with the registration type.
P.S. This 18 month rule applies for any yacht registered anywhere in the world, even if it is registered in the EU.
With an UK Part 1 Yacht Registration you will be able to use the British flag on your boat or yacht. This is the most prestigious boat registration in the world. This boat registration is given a Class AA rating by almost all nautical authorities around the globe. Besides that, the British flag is highly respected and well-known.
We also provide boat registrations, registered under other nationalities. Such as the highly respected Dutch Worldwide Registration and the Polish boat registration. You can compare boat registrations to see which boat registration suits your needs.

BlueWater Registration Services will arrange the whole process.
After we’ve created your new UK Ltd., we will prepare a bill of sale to transfer the ownership of your boat, yacht or jet ski to your new UK Ltd. This way the ownership of your boat now lies within the UK.
Please note that the company, of which you are the only owner, will not be active and so you do not have to pay any taxes, nor do you have any other obligations. We will arrange all for you! You don’t even need an UK bank account.
